What sports can be practiced or seen in the city of Seville? Now, here is a list of sports which Sevillanos used to play. Not just those local people from the city of Seville are fond of playing these games but also of course the tourist from all over the world.

As they said, people come to visit Seville not just for partying during festivals, watching the beauty of Seville as the Moorish, Arab traditions have inheritably passed on ‘til the next generation, but also to discover sports/ professional sports of traditions.

One of the most popular sports being practiced by the Andalusians is Soccer (Football, Futbol) this is one of the top professional sport entertainment in the Seville. For the people of Spain Seville this sport is more than just “a sport” for them but a passion and obsession of the local people in Seville. In fact, the city of Seville contains 2 very important football clubs in Spain, but they are also pretty well known in Europe. Real Betis and Sevilla FC are the two mentioned above.

Bullfighting is also one of their fascinated sport that can be seen in the city of Seville. It has been said that the vast Maestranza” bulling in Seville holds some of the most important bullfights in Spain. The bullfighting in Seville happens when from April through October. In Seville, Spain the horses has become an important part of their life. Seville Equestrian Sport is one of a kind. To prove, during the April fair the city of Seville holds a horse Festival. Also in the neighboring city of Jerez de la Frontera were also hosting for an international Horse Week in May. And in Seville there are several schools offers riding lessons. Water Sport in Seville includes in the lists of their most popular sports in their city. Since Seville possessed one of the best beaches in Europe, water sports has never been a taboo for the Sevillanos. They have the wide water sports facilities available. As this has been noted, the Tarifa is a great place for windsurfing. Guadalquivir in Seville as well is a best spot for sailing, windsurfing and canoeing.

Skiing is an airport that can be seen in the Seville city.  The mountain of Sierra Nevada is said to be the home of Europe southernmost skiing regions. One of the best cuisines that Spanish humbly offered to all the people who came to Seville, Cadiz and Malaga in Spain are the Flamenco Eggs, Sauté Kidneys with Sherry, Stuffed Artichokes and fried fish.

Many times that has been proved that Spanish people especially from the city of Seville are really not into restaurants. However, these people cater the best of the Andalusia specialties, Spanish and international cuisine to the tourists who are coming to their place.

Most common way of sharing foods with friends or with your love ones is what they call the “ir de Tapeo” most of their culinary customs on their traditions. Some of the authentic Sevillana foods are their Salads, Salmorejos, Gazpacho, and Pork chops. These kinds of food are typically in some of the restaurants in Seville during the fall of summer.

During Lent, cod Tapas are typically consumed during the Lent season. The great local wines, Jerez (sherry), Manzanilla and Montilla are a perfect match to all those dishes.

Torrijas and Llemas de San Leandro are a couple of their deserts served. It is a Moorish influence and are said prepared usually with honey and wine as well.

Taking a vacation in Seville is noteworthy. Many tourists from all over the world have enjoyed exploring the city of Seville. They have never regrets those days that they have spent in Seville.

Much for the reason why they enjoy Seville is the nightlife. The Sevillanos have still practice the tradition of Botellón. This is where people used to drink liquor in the streets and in plazas. Though this has been stopped/ prohibited/ illegalized in December 2006, still many people dare to do. It is fun; it is the cheapest way of enjoying the night at the streets with friends.

Though the said tradition of the Spanish is quite prohibited nowadays, people still urge to try. The Botellón is allowed but with due prudence.

Nightlife in Calle Betis Calle Betis is situated along Triana Side River. Many different kinds of restaurants from this place offer the best traditional cuisine. People enjoy the perfect moonlight view of the Rio and El Centro. Along the Calle Betis are the several authentic bars of the Flamenco Bars such as the Lo Nuestro. In this place formal attire is required before getting inside the Bar.

Sevilla Festivals

Most of the tourists come to Seville city in Spain to enjoy and see the beauty of Seville. However, they tend to visit Seville during their festivals. Festivals are great experiences if you can join them in Sevilla.

The most famous celebration in the city of Seville is the “Semana Santa” (or Holy week). This is a part of the tradition and culture of the Sevillanas as Spanish people. Historically, the said celebrations begun in the 14th century, and now it’s been made a tradition which is celebrated every year. Many of the Spanish people are religious; the main attraction during the Semana Santa is the procession in their streets with an image of the Virgin Mary, image of their patron and other image of their Saints.

In the 17th century this has believed that this was the period of the creation of Jesus del Gran Poder (Great power) where it has been said this was the root of Catholicism but has also known as a Festival of Gold because during this celebration people are glimmering with their with gold. However, this has also viewed as celebration of prosperity. The La Macarena which means “Our Lady of Hope” a title given to Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza. And the Christ of Cachorro, are the essential images of during the processions.

During the Holy Week, this includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday (Passion Sunday), Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday), and Good Friday. This is usually celebrated for the spans of seven days, staging daily processions as well as the 40 days of Lent.

“Feria de Abril” or the April Fair is also another form of celebration being celebrated in Seville, Spain. Before the exact celebration of Feria de Abril, people in Seville were busy preparing lights and small lanterns. And when the month of April (celebration month) comes, many of tourists from all around the world come to participate with the celebration dressed in short jackets, boots and chaps and the women wears with a colorful ruffled folk dress.

Mostly, when April falls people are busy celebrating the April Fair, the stores are closed during the mid day. The People in Seville (the ordinary people) who were in their folk dresses are the most amazing and the main attraction during the Feria de Abril. Their tradition has become really strong from generations to generations.

All day long, with in the span of this celebration routine of these people are noticeably increadible. They sleep for just a while, take work for sometimes and then after that they party all day long. Dancing with Flamenco dance, eats, and drinks and strolling all around the city.

They said, the said celebration is solemn though they were dressed in colorful uniforms. Streets along the path of Seville city are covered with white awnings. Streets of the city are filled with beautiful scented flowers.

Also according to their history, one of the grandeur celebration held in the city of Seville is the “Vel” night of Santa Ana. The celebration is being held at the sailors’ neighborhood of Triana. The said celebration happens during the fall of July 24th - 26th day impart with the celebration of Saint James and Sta. Ana.
